The Enfilade Loft Bed was conceived to lift the sleeping space above the apartment’s natural circulation. In doing so, the full floor plate of this century-old Brooklyn apartment is freed for living, gathering, and light.

Positioned atop wall-to-wall shelving at the heart of the apartment, the bed occupies a shaded area — withdrawn from bright street-facing windows and the hum of the busy avenue. This allows the sunlit room by the road to breathe as a lively living space, while the loft becomes a quiet threshold between stillness and social life.

Designed with renters in mind, the bed is built from deconstructible panels — modular, transportable, and easily reassembled. Its self-supporting wood stud frame honors the apartment’s history, sparing the delicate plaster walls from fasteners or damage.

Floor-to-ceiling curtains draw soft boundaries through the space — shaping zones of comfort, warmth, and quiet. They allow radiators and window units to focus their energy, offering efficient climate control while honoring the apartment’s original form.
