A meditation inspired by the Chinese classical tradition of the scholar’s rock, objects crafted to invite quiet contemplation of mountains, nature, and our fleeting presence within the vast expanse of geologic time. Here, I’ve gathered clay from the winding banks of a New Jersey river and excavated earth from a Brooklyn brownstone construction site. These unglazed clays are fired into sculptural forms, bringing memories of the land into the domestic realm. They hold moments of landscape, minerals, textures, and movements suspended in time, reminding me to pause, to linger, and to reflect on the silent geology that surrounds and shapes our lives.
